Wingate’s Billo, Carson-Newman’s Cutter Named Volleyball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Wingate University outside hitter Lauren Billo and Carson-Newman College setter Stephanie Cutter have been named Volleyball Player and Specialist of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Billo, a junior from Orland Park, Ill. (Carl Sandburg HS) averaged 4.33 kills per set, while hitting .378 as the 24th-ranked Bulldogs notched another perfect week, collecting three victories to extend their winning streak to 15 consecutive matches. Billo had 16 kills with a .438 hitting percentage in the 3-0 win at Brevard. She had a double-double in the 3-0 regional win at Lander, racking up 12 kills and 10 digs. Billo finished off the week with 11 kills in the sweep over Francis Marion. On the year, Billo is second in the SAC with 3.41 kills per set, while also ranking in the top five with a .318 hitting percentage. She wins for the second time this season.

Cutter, a senior setter from Murfreesboro, Tenn. (Univ. of South Alabama), helped the Lady Eagles to a 2-0 week as she came just one kill away from tallying a triple-double on Tuesday night in a five-set battle between C-N and Tusculum in SAC action. Cutter posted 36 assists (match-high), 20 digs and nine kills against the Pioneers. She followed up that performance with a match-high 27 assists helping the team to hit a season-high .493 on the contest Friday against Queens. Cutter also wins for the second time this season.
