Wingate’s Gale, Malone Named Volleyball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Wingate University sophomore middle blocker Stormi Gale (Richmond, Texas) is this week's South Atlantic Conference volleyball Player of the Week. Wingate University freshman libero Maggie Malone (Chicago, Ill.) is the SAC volleyball Specialist of the Week.
Gale earns POTW honors for the third time in her career and the second consecutive week this season. She averaged 4.00 kills per set in two matches on the week to lead the Bulldogs to a pair of SAC road victories. Gale had 18 kills, seven digs and three blocks in a 3-1 win at Mars Hill Saturday. She hit .353 against the Lions.

The Fort Bend Austin High School graduate followed the Mars Hill performance with 14 kills, 12 digs and four aces in a 3-1 win at Tusculum Sunday, notching her fourth double-double of the season. The 2007 SAC Freshman of the Year, Gale leads the Bulldogs (11-1 overall, 2-0 SAC) on the season with 3.56 kills and 0.78 blocks per set. Gale is second on the team charts with 2.53 digs per set.
Malone receives SAC volleyball Specialist of the Week laurels for the first time in her career. She averaged 4.75 digs per set while helping the Bulldogs pick up two conference road victories over the weekend. On Sunday, she notched a career-high 24 digs in a 3-1 win at Tusculum.
On Saturday afternoon, Malone had 14 digs in Wingate's 3-1 win at Mars Hill. A Marist High School product, Malone leads the team with 3.38 digs per set on the season. She ranks second on the team charts with 14 aces.
The SAC Volleyball Players of the Week are determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
