Catawba’s Powers, Lincoln Memorial’s MacIntyre Named Volleyball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Catawba College senior middle blocker Melissa Powers (Bennett, N.C.) is this week's South Atlantic Conference volleyball Player of the Week. Lincoln Memorial University junior libero Alicia MacIntyre (Muncie, Ind.) is the first-ever SAC volleyball Specialist of the Week.
Powers helped Catawba split its four matches at the Catawba College Invitational. In a five-game loss to Pfeiffer, the North Moore High School graduate notched a school-record 37 kills while hitting at a 41 percent clip. Powers led the team and reached double-figures in kills in all four matches, averaging nearly 5.3 per game. She added 12 blocks and six digs over the four matches.

MacIntyre has recovered from a pre-season ankle injury to play a key role for the Railsplitters. Her work ethic and determination helped her contribute to the LMU cause in this weekend's Carson-Newman volleyball tournament. She averaged 4.85 digs per game in four matches for the Railsplitters. The Hiram College transfer added five service aces for the week. MacIntyre had a season-high 22 digs against West Virginia State. She helped LMU compile a 3-1 record with victories over Lees-McRae, West Virginia Wesleyan and Mount Olive.
The SAC Volleyball Players of the Week are determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
