Wingate’s Rebecca Bloemer Named Volleyball Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. ­- Wingate University middle blocker Rebecca Bloemer, of Louisville, Ky., has been named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 4. Bloemer, a freshman, helped Wingate complete an undefeated conference season with three wins during the week and earns the honor for the first time.

Bloemer, a former standout at Assumption High School, totaled 39 kills over nine games last week as Wingate claimed wins over Newberry, Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial. She posted double figures in kills in all three matches and added four blocks.

For the week, Bloemer averaged 4.33 kills while hitting at 37.8 percent. On the season, she leads Wingate with an average of 3.38 kills per game and in hitting at 34.4 percent. She added 0.44 blocks per game last week.

The SAC Volleyball Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
