Pairings Announced For 2007 Food Lion SAC Volleyball Tournament
ROCK HILL, SC - Wingate University, which claimed the volleyball regular season championship by going undefeated in conference play, is the No. 1 seed in next week's Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Tournament, conference officials announced today.
The tournament will be Friday and Saturday at Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn. Quarterfinals will be played on Friday, with the semifinal on Saturday morning. The championship match will be 6 p.m. Saturday.
The championship match will be webstreamed and available to watch over the Internet.
Wingate (14-0 SAC, 30-1) will face eighth-seed Mars Hill College (0-13, 13-18) in one quarterfinal match on Friday at noon.
Second-seed Tusculum College (11-3, 24-9) will face seventh-seed Carson-Newman at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
Catawba College (8-6, 24-7) is the third seed and will face sixth-seed Lincoln Memorial (5-8, 19-14) at 3:30 p.m.
The other quarterfinal match will see fourth-seed Newberry (7-7, 14-8) taking on fifth-seed Lenoir-Rhyne (6-8, 18-15).
The two semifinal matches will be played Saturday at 11 a.m.
The championship match is set for 6 p.m.
Wingate is the defending tournament champions.
The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship tournament.
