Wingate’s Stormi Gale Named Volleyball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Wingate University freshman middle blocker Stormi Gale, of Richmond, Texas, has been named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 14. Gale collects the honor for the first time and makes it two weeks in a row for a Bulldog as Wingate won three matches to improve to 24-1 overall and 9-0 in the SAC.
Gale, a product of Fort Bend Austin High School, played in two
matches for the Bulldogs in helping Wingate to wins over Tusculum
and Brevard. In the five-game win at Tusculum, Gale posted a
triple-double with 12 kills, 11 blocks and 20 digs.
The freshman picked up 11 kills, 14 digs and five blocks in a
four-game win over Brevard.
For the week, Gale averaged 2.6 kills, 3.8 digs and 1.8 blocks over nine games. She hit at 45.5 percent and also recorded three aces. She is averaging 3.2 kills per game this season with a .301 hitting percentage. Gale tops the Bulldogs in both blocks (1.2) and aces (0.6) per contest.
The SAC Volleyball Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
