Catawba’s Andi Henderson Named Volleyball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Catawba College senior setter Andi Henderson has been named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 2.
Henderson, who earns league honor for the first time, helped the Catawba Indians to three wins in four matches at the Francis Marion Invitational. In a five-set match against Francis Marion, Catawba set a NCAA II record by scoring a total of 148 points in winning 36-38, 37-35, 30-32, 30-25 and 15-10.
Henderson, who starred at Swansboro High School (Swansboro,
N.C.), recorded 209 assists over the four Catawba matches, an
average of 13.1 per game. She had 66 assists in a five-game loss to
West Georgia and added 17 in two games of a four-game win over
Glenville State.
On Saturday, she posted 54 assists vs. UNC-Aiken and 72 in the win
over Francis Marion. The 72 assists tied for the third highest
match total in school history.
For the tournament, Henderson added five aces, 27 digs, three aces and three blocks. She is averaging 13.2 assists per game this season as Catawba has won seven of its first eight matches.
The SAC Volleyball Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
