Catawba’s Melissa Griffith named Volleyball Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Catawba's Melissa Griffith has been named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player-of-the-Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon.

An outside hitter for the Indians, Griffith helped lead Catawba to two SAC victories last week.

Griffith posted a double-double in Catawba's victory over Tusculum, tallying 21 kills and 18 digs. The Williamsburg, Va. native followed that up registering 14 kills in a sweep of Carson-Newman.

Griffith enters the Food Lion SAC Volleyball Tournament having registered a team-high 401 kills during the regular season. The Lafayette High product finished second in the SAC in digs with 361.

The SAC Volleyball Players of the Week are chosen by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
