Wingate’s Brezovec named Volleyball Player of the Week

Wingate's Rebecca Brezovec has been named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon.

A senior middle blocker for the Bulldogs, Brezovec helped lead Wingate to two SAC wins last week to sustain their undefeated status in league play at 9-0 on the season.

Brezovec hit for an average of .370 in the two contests, averaging 4.71 kills per game. In a four-game win over defending league champion Presbyterian, Brezovec picked up 25 kills and a hitting percentage of .412.

The Durham, N.C. native also had eight blocks in the victory over the Blue Hose.

Brezovec followed up her performance against PC by recording eight kills in a 3-0 sweep of Newberry.

On the season, Brezovec leads the SAC in kills-per-game at 4.30.

The SAC Volleyball Players of the Week are chosen by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
