Wingate’s Molly Kerns named Volleyball Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. ­- Wingate's Molly Kerns has been named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon.

A middle blocker for the Bulldogs, Kerns led Wingate to a 4-0 record last week, including a 2-0 mark in South Atlantic Conference play. Kerns hit .536 on the week and finished with 36 cumulative kills in the Bulldogs' four contests.

The senior also averaged 0.64 blocks-per-game to help the Bulldogs claim sole possession of first place in the league.

The Bellefontaine, Ohio native commandeered a staggering .700 hitting percentage in a win over St. Andrews last week as well, acquiring 15 kills in the contest on 20 attacks while also only tallying one error.

The SAC Volleyball Players of the Week are chosen by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
