Presbyterian’s Brown, Friday Named to AVAC Honorable Mention All Region Volleyball Team

CLINTON, S.C. - Presbyterian College seniors Jasmin Brown and Erin Friday have been named to Honorable Mention AVCA Division II All-South Region it was announced today.

Brown, a 5-11 middle blocker from Alpharetta, Ga., earned 2005 SAC Player of the Year and first team All-SAC honors after leading team and the SAC in hitting percentage (.419) and kills per game (4.07). She also ranks fourth nationally in hitting percentage and earned SAC Player of the Week honors three times this season. The 2004 SAC All-Tournament and two-time All-SAC selection, ranks 3rd in program history in career kills (1,745), career total blocks (536), and blocks per game (1.03). She is one of only three players in program history to compile 1,500 kills and 500 blocks in their career.

Friday, a 5-8 outside hitter from Summerville, S.C., ranks second on the team in total kills and digs, third in kills per game, and hitting percentage. She averaged 3.68 kills, 3.36 digs, 4.13 points, and compiled a .307 hitting percentage en route to 2005 first team All-South Atlantic Conference (SAC) and 2005 Food Lion SAC Tournament MVP honors. The three-time All-SAC selection ranks 4th in the SAC in hitting percentage, 7th in kills per game, and 10th in digs per game this season. She earns this honor for the second year in a row. For her career, she ranks second in program history in career kills (1,755) and is one of only six players to compile 1,500 kills and 1,300 digs in their career.

The Lady Blue Hose finished this past season with a 32-5 overall record, including a 14-0 record in the South Atlantic Conference. They won the SAC regular season and tournament titles and made their second straight appearance in the NCAA Division II South Regionals.
