LR's Brown and Newberry's Watson-Perez Take Home SAC WePlayed Sports Indoor T&F Athlete of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the third week of competition. Lenoir-Rhyne's Alexis Brown earned the track honor while Newberry's Irma Watson-Perez garnered field honors.
Brown, a junior sprinter from Mableton, Ga., won the 60m title at the Finn Ficus Invitational with a time of 7.42 seconds which is good for seventh in all of Division II. Brown would go on to capture a second-place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 25.58 seconds.
Watson-Perez, a senior thrower from Sanford, Fla., placed first in the weight throw with a distance of 16.85m at the Mondo College Invitational. That throw set a school record and placed in the top 35 of all NCAA Division II this year while also being the top SAC mark of the season.
