Wingate's Ciaccia Named South Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Women's Tennis
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Camilla Ciaccia was voted the South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the Conference office announced today.
The South Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each of the Conference's championship sports, and is voted on by the SAC's Faculty Athletic Representatives Committee. The winners are selected based on their achievements in academics, athletics, service, and leadership.
Ciaccia, a senior from Desenzano Del Garda, Italy, holds a 3.64 GPA while majoring in management. She is a four-time SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll selection, a three-time Wingate President's List honoree, and a two-time Wingate Dean's List selection.
"This is such a great honor for Camilla, and I am proud of her and her level of dedication to her academics," said Wingate head women's tennis coach Michael Cabana. "She has a very competitive mindset on the tennis court, and she takes that same mindset into her academics. Camilla is always striving for success. Her growth on the tennis court and in the classroom over her four years has been a privilege to watch."
A two-time All-SAC selection in both singles and doubles, Ciaccia led the Bulldogs to a share of the 2022 SAC Regular Season Title and was ranked as high as No. 13 in singles play and No. 20 in doubles play.
Ciaccia is not only successful in the classroom and on the tennis court, but also in the Wingate community. She has participated in numerous community service events, including the United Way Day of Caring where she volunteered with the rest of the Wingate women's tennis team at the Wingate Baptist Church Daycare.
