Wingate's Verpelli Named South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Tennis Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Michela Verpelli has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played Mar. 26-April 1, the League announced today.

Verpelli had a huge week for No. 21 Wingate as she led the Bulldogs to a pair of SAC wins, pushing their SAC winning streak to 65 matches. She picked up wins against Coker and No. 41 Queens, including a 2-6, 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles against three-time SAC Player of the Year Queen's Carlotta Nassi. Verpelli is now 8-2 on the year at No. 1 singles and 6-0 in conference play.

This is Verpelli's second Player of the Week honor this year.
