The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the ninth week of the 2021 season.  Queens forward Maddy Leone was named the offensive player of the week, while Wingate defender Kristen DeBiase was named defensive player of the week. 

Leone, a freshman from Hilliard, Ohio, led the Royals to a pair of victories, defeating Georgia College 1-0 and Coker 2-0. She recorded an assist versus Georgia College and then scored both Royal goals in the win over Coker. She finished the week with two goals and an assist for five points.

DeBiase, a graduate student from Deer Park, N.Y., anchored the Bulldog defense as they picked up two shutout victories last week, defeating Chowan 4-0 and Lenoir-Rhyne 1-0. In addition to her lock-down defense she recorded a goal and an assist against Chowan, including scoring the game-winning goal. Thanks to DeBiase's defensive leadership the Bulldogs have won six straight matches.
