The South Atlantic Conference Announces Women's Soccer Preseason Poll and All-Conference Teams

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne has been selected as the South Atlantic Conference favorite for the 2021 women's soccer season, the league office announced today.

The Bears were picked first after receiving eight first-place nods and 128 overall points. Lenoir-Rhyne finished the 2021 spring season with a record of 9-1-1 overall, going 4-1-1 in SAC play and the Bears brought home the 2021 SAC Spring Women's Soccer Tournament Championship.

Catawba was tabbed No. 2 in the poll with four first place votes and 124 overall points. In the spring of 2021, the Catawba Indians went 7-2 overall and 5-1 in SAC play.

Queens was picked third in the preseason poll after finishing the 2021 spring season with a record of 7-2-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play. The Royals garnered 108 points.

Wingate claimed the four-spot in the preseason rankings with 97 points. Carson-Newman was tagged in the No. 5 spot in the poll, collecting 94 points, while Limestone was picked as the No. 6 team with 85 points.

Lincoln Memorial sits in seventh with 78 points, Tusculum is No. 8 with 57 points, and Anderson collected the No. 9 spot with 50 points.

Newberry, Mars Hill, and Coker round out the preseason poll. Newberry earned the No. 10 spot with 49 points. Mars Hill was tabbed eleventh with 31 points and Coker takes the No. 12 spot with 223points.

In addition to the 2021 SAC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, the 2021 SAC Women's Soccer Preseason All-Conference teams were also announced. Voted on by the league's media relations directors, the preseason all-conference teams feature seven players from Catawba, five players from Carson-Newman, and Wingate, three players from Lenoir-Rhyne and Lincoln Memorial, two players from Queens, and one player from Limestone.
