Carson-Newman To Host Columbus State In NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The seventh-ranked Carson-Newman women's soccer team will host this weekend's third round and quarterfinal matches of the NCAA Division II Tournament, the NCAA Championship Committee announced Monday.
Top-ranked West Florida (20-0) will take on Rollins (16-1-2) in the South Regional final on Friday at 4 p.m. at McCown Field. The top-seeded Lady Eagles (19-2-1) will then play second-seeded Columbus State (16-2-3) in the Southeast Regional final at 7 p.m. in Jefferson City.
The winners of the regional finals will advance to Sunday's NCAA Quarterfinal, which will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday at McCown Field.
C-N enters the regional final coming off a 1-0 win over South Atlantic Conference rival Tusculum on Sunday. Friday's Sweet 16 appearance will be the fifth for the Lady Eagles in the last seven years.
Columbus State punched its ticket to the regional final with a 4-2 victory over Armstrong Atlantic State on Sunday.
Friday's matchup will mark the fourth-straight year C-N has faced Columbus State in the postseason. The Lady Eagles have lost the last two meetings, including a 1-0 loss last season.
