Queens Takes Home 2015 Men's South Atlantic Conference Track and Field Championship
Hickory, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams swept the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Championships which concluded Saturday at the Moretz Sports – Athletic Complex.
On the women's side, the Royals won their second straight championship with 240 total points.
Queens was led by the performance of Nikia Squire, who was named the both the 2015 SAC Women's Track Athlete and Field Athlete Of The Year. Squire won the women's 100-meter dash (11.70) and 200-meter dash (24.88) and was part of the women's 400-meter relay squad (46.66) which took home top honors as well.
In addition, Squire placed first in the women's long jump (19'1.25") while the Royals swept the relays with their first-place finish in the women's 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:58.04.
On the men's side, Queens won the championship with 178 points thanks to the performance of Yannick Stubbe. Stubbe, the 2015 SAC Freshman and Track Athlete Of The Year, won the men's 5,000-meter run (15:11) and finished second in both the men's 800-meter run (1:54) and the 1,500-meter run (4:01).
