LMU's Quilici and C-N's Sam Honored as SAC WePlayed Sports Men's Indoor T&F Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the third week of competition. Lincoln Memorial's Vincent Quilici earned the track honor while Carson-Newman's Verrol Sam garnered field accolades.
Quilici, a sophomore sprinter from Rome, Ga., set a new program record for the Railsplitters in the 200m as he crossed in 22.20 seconds at the Vanderbilt Invitational over the weekend. That time ranks in the top 10 in the SAC this season.
Sam, a sophomore jumper from Saint Vincent, set a new PR at the Finn Pincus Invitational in the long jump with a leap of 7.49m, the eighth-best long jump across Division II this season, while winning the event. He also took home first place in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.98m.
