Catawba's and Tusculum's Stephens' Named SAC WePlayed Sports Men's Indoor T&F Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the first week of competition. Catawba's Miles Stephens earned the track honor while Tusculum's Joshua Stephens earned the field honor.
Miles Stephens, a senior sprinter, ran a school-record 6.67 in the 60m dash at the season-opening JDL College Invite, setting the current fastest Division II time in the country. Stephens topped the 31-man field at the JDL, topping runners from Division I Charlotte.
Joshua Stephens, a senior jumper from Sanford, Fla., beat his career best by nearly two feet to win the long jump (7/23 meters/23 feet, 8.75 inches) at the Commonwealth College Opener on Saturday. Stephens also had a PR in the triple jump and took second place with a mark of 14.83 meters (48 feet. 8 inches). Each mark ranks in the top 15 in DII this season.
