The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Swimmers of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Swimmers of the Week for meets competed in during the fifth week of the 2024 season. Catawba's Sydney McKenzie was named the Women's Swimmer of the Week, while Catawba's Maks Minichowski was named the Men's Swimmer of the Week.
Mckenzie captured four victories for the Catawba Indians, swimming against No. 5 Wingate and Barton. The junior from Monument, Colo., took first and swam a school-record 2:06.50 in the 200 IM vs Wingate. Against Barton, McKenzie won the 100 Back (57.62) and the 200 Breast (2:20.19). Sydney was also a part of the school-record-setting 400 Medley Relay team that defeated Barton 3:50.48.
Minichowski took first place in four events last week, swimming against No. 7 Wingate and Barton. Against Wingate, the sophomore from Poland won the 50 Free (20.56) and the 100 Free (44.81). Minichowski won the 50 Free in a SAC best time of 20.44 against Barton. Maks was a part of the 400 Medley Relay team that swam a school-record 3:19.20 to beat Barton.
