The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week, Apr. 12
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Tarah Young was tabbed the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Outdoor Track Runner of the Week, while Domonique Jones from Lenoir-Rhyne was named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested Apr. 3rd-Apr. 9th, the League announced today.
Young, a freshman from Albany, Georgia, finished fifth in the 400-meters at the Johnson C. Smith Invitational on Saturday, posting a time of 54.74. Her time is the fastest 400-meter time in the League this season as well as an NCAA provisional qualifier. She and three teammates finished third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:52.06. The time also happens to be the best 4x400 time in the SAC this season. The honor marks her second Women's Track Athlete of the Week selection this season.
Jones, a senior from Greensboro, Georgia, continued to impress this past week as she finished first in the hammer throw with a toss measuring at 150'8'', third in the discus throw with a mark of 132'3'', and sixth in the shot put with a mark of 39'3''. The honor marks her second Women's Field Athlete of the Week selection this season.
