The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week, Mar. 29
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Coker's Darroneshia Lott was tabbed the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Outdoor Track Runner of the Week, while Danielle Konopelski from Queens and Vanisha Wilshire of Wingate were named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Outdoor Co-Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested Mar. 20th-Mar. 26th, the League announced today.
Lott, a senior from Pensacola, Florida, notched a first-place finish in the 800M at the Weems Baskin Invite with a time of 2:07.99. Her time was nothing short of significant as she set a new Coker school record. The honor marks her first Track Athlete of the Week selection this season.
Konopelski, a sophomore from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, enjoyed a first-place finish at the Winthrop Adidas Invitational in the Javelin throw with a 44.93m throw. Her throw was a career best and an NCAA qualifying throw. She also placed sixth in the Discus Throw with 36.91m, which was another NCAA qualifying throw and personal best. These throws would rank her second in the nation in both competitions. The honor marks her first Field Athlete of the Week selection this season.
Wilshire, a sophomore from Louisburg, North Carolina, took the Gold Medal in the high jump with a mark of 1.70 meters at the Winthrop Adidas Invitational. She was the only athlete in the 25-person field to clear, and on her first try at that. The honor marks her first Field Athlete of the Week selection this season.
