The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week, Apr. 5
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Tarah Young was tabbed the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Outdoor Track Runner of the Week, while Domonique Jones from Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate's Hannah Hinson were named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Outdoor Field Co-Athletes of the Week for meets contested Mar. 27th-Apr. 2nd, the League announced today.
Young, a freshman from Albany, Georgia, won the 200-meter dash at the VertKlasse Meeting with a season-best time of 24.17. The time gives her the best time in the conference and fourth best in NCAA Division II. The honor marks her first Women's Track Athlete of the Week selection this season.
Jones, a senior from Greensboro, Georgia, broke her own school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 155'9'' for a second place finish this past weekend. The honor marks her first Women's Field Athlete of the Week selection this season.
Hinson, a sophomore from Gates, North Carolina, posted a season-best mark of 41.77 meters, breaking her own school record by 11 feet in the discus throw. She was 33rd in the VertKlasse Meeting shot put with a mark of 10.55 meters. Hinson is second in the League in the discus throw and ninth in the shot put. The honor marks her first Women's Field Athlete of the Week selection this season.
