Wingate Wins Women's Cross Country NCAA Southeast Regional, SAC Teams Take Top Three Spots for Second Straight Year
WINGATE, N.C. (TheSAC.com) - Wingate, Anderson, Catawba, and Lenoir-Rhyne took four of the top five spots at the NCAA Women's Cross Country Southeast Region Championship on Saturday (Nov. 19). Wingate placed first, followed by Anderson in second, Catawba in third, and Lenoir-Rhyne in fifth. Lincoln Memorial placed 11th overall, followed by Carson-Newman in 12th, UVA Wise in 19th, and Mars Hill in 20th.
Individually, Madison Clay from Catawba won the 6K event with a time of 21:36, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne's Janet Kwambai in second at 21:49, Wingate's Mollie Scott in third at 22:05, and Catawba's Raina Andrews in fourth at 23:12.
Wingate, Anderson, and Catawba all receive automatic bids to the NCAA Division II National Championship at the Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Washington, as part of the NCAA Division II Fall Festival on Dec. 2. The full field of teams and individuals will be announced on Monday, Nov.21.
