SAC Places Six Teams in Final NCAA Volleyball Regional Rankings
The season’s final set of NCAA Division II volleyball regional rankings were released on Wednesday night, with six SAC teams earning spots in the southeast region poll, including top-ranked Wingate.
INDIANAPOLIS – The season's final set of NCAA Division II volleyball regional rankings were released on Wednesday night, with six SAC teams earning spots in the southeast region poll, including top-ranked Wingate.
Wingate capped off an unbeaten 22-0 record in SAC play last week and finished the regular season 26-2 overall. The Bulldogs – seeded No. 1 in the upcoming Food Lion SAC Volleyball Championship – have won 23-straight matches.
WU was ranked No. 1 in each of the three southeast region poll releases this season.
Tusculum moved up three spots this week to No. 3 and Lenoir-Rhyne climbed one position to No. 6, while Lincoln Memorial is ranked No. 5, Newberry No. 7 and Anderson No. 9.
Tusculum finished second in the SAC standings at 15-7 in league matches and went 20-9 overall, while Lenoir-Rhyne, LMU and Anderson all tied for third in the conference at 14-8. L-R is 17-9 overall, LMU is 18-12 and AU is 16-13.
Newberry, meanwhile, went 12-10 in SAC play and finished the regular season 18-11 overall.
NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship selections will take place on Monday, Nov. 25, with the bracket being announced on a live NCAA.com special at 7:30 p.m.
