Wingate Men and Women Complete Two-Peat Sweep of SAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship
HICKORY, N.C. - For the second consecutive season, the Wingate Bulldogs have swept the men's and women's outdoor track and field championship titles. The men posted 250 points to secure the victory, while the women recorded 261.5. Lenoir-Rhyne claimed both runner-up slots, as the women finished with 190.75 points and the men with 158.5. Tusculum finished third for the men with 89 points while Anderson finished third for the women with 75.75.
Lenoir-Rhyne's Victoria Aransiola was named the Women's Freshman of the Year, while teammate Alexis Brown was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Meet. Wingate's Danielle Crawford was named the Women's Field Athlete of the Meet, and Matt van Lierop was named the Women's Coach of the Year and he led the 'Dogs to the championship crown.
Mars Hill's Jesse Shelton was named both the Men's Freshman of the Year and the Men's Field Athlete of the Meet. Tusculum's Isaiah Olson was named the Men's Track Athlete of the Meet, and Wingate's Matt van Lierop earned another honor as Men's Coach of the Year.
