The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the fifth week of competition. Lenoir-Rhyne's Alexis Brown was named the Track Athlete of the Week while Tusculum's Caley Sosnowski was named the Field Athlete of the Week.
Brown, a sophomore from Mableton, Ga., competed in the Southside Power and Fitness Invitational this week. She recorded three first-place finishes which included breaking the Division II record in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.09. She also anchored the women's 4x100-meter relay that won with a time of 45.23 to land fifth among the DII rankings and won the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.18.
Sosnowski, a freshman from Oxford, Fla., took over the top spot in the nation in Division II in the javelin throw with a throw of 48.55 meters (159 feet, 3 inches) at the Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Classic. Sosnowski had a total of three throws during the competition that would have ranked inside the top five in Division II this season.
