Seven SAC Student-Athletes Qualify for NCAA Division II Women's Track & Field National Championship
INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee has announced the participants for the 2021 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. A total of 566 participants, 283 men and 283 women, will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event. Representing the South Atlantic Conference will be seven women's student-athletes, five from Queens and two from Wingate. From Queens, Fatima Alanis will run the 10,000-meter and 5,000-meter, while Stevie Lawrence will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Elise Ulseth will compete in the heptathlon, as well as the 100-meter hurdles, the high jump, and javelin throw. Lucy Walker will compete in the high jump, and Melaine Welsing will compete in the 100-meter hurdles.
For Wingate, Franziska Althaus will compete in the 10,000-meter and the 5,000-meter, while Vanisha Wilshire will compete in the high jump.
The championships will be held May 27-29 in Allendale, Michigan at the Grand Valley State Track & Field Stadium. Grand Valley State University and the West Michigan Sports Commission will serve as co-hosts of the championships. The championships will be streamed live on www.NCAA.com.
