Queens Sweeps South Atlantic Conference Astroturf Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets recently held. Queens' Fatima Alanis earned the track accolade while teammate Elise Ulseth earned the field honor.
A freshman distance runner, Alanis, competed in the Flames Invitational this past weekend where she placed first in the 5000-meter with a time of 16:31.64. Her time is not only a personal best, but an NCAA DII provisional mark as well. This is Alanis' first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season.
A junior multi competitor, Ulseth, competed in the Hub-city Invitational this past weekend where she placed first in multiple events starting with the 100-meter hurdles (14.01 sec), high jump (1.75m) and long jump (6.05m). All three marks were NCAA DII Provisionals and Ulseth now ranks in the top-10 nationally in all three events. This is Ulseth's third Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
