Wingate's Chahid Earns National Title, Two Additional SAC Athletes Earn All-American Status
PITTSBURG, Kan. - Wingate's Hamza Chahid kicked off the 2024 NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field Championship with a national title in the Men's 5000m. Chahid won the event with a time of 13:51.02, marking his third track and field national title. In total, three SAC athletes were named All-Americans for their efforts in the first day of the championship.
Carson-Newman's Kadidja Sangare was named a First Team All-American after finishing eighth in the Women's Long Jump with a 5.93 meter leap.
Wingate's Valerie Daehler also brought home honors for the Bulldogs, finishing in a tie for 11th in the Women's High Jump. She was named a Second Team All-American after clearing 1.67 meters on Friday.
