Zeth Brower of Lander Captures Second Straight National Title for South Atlantic Conference Carolinas at 141 Pounds
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Zeth Brower of Lander captured the national title at 141 pounds at the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's Wrestling Championships at the Chaifetz Center.
Seeded fourth, Brower bested second-seeded Branson Proudlock of Findlay, 6-4, in the championship match to earn the first national championship in men's wrestling for Lander.
The victory at 141 pounds marked the second straight year that the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas men's wrestling collaboration has garnered the national title in the weight class. Isiah Royal of Newberry claimed the national title at 141 pounds one year earlier. Royal picked up the national title with a thrilling 7-6 victory over Joey Bianchini of St. Cloud State in 2021.
In its fourth year, the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas men's wrestling collaboration now has two individual national titles with the two victories at 141 pounds.
Like Royal the year prior, Brower knocked off Bianchini en route to the national title. His 4-3 win over Bianchini in the semifinals allowed him the opportunity to take on Proudlock in the final.
Top-seeded at 149 pounds in the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's Wrestling Championships, Royal just missed on making it two straight national titles, falling to fifth-seeded Sam Turner of Nebraska-Kearney in the semifinals.
UNC Pembroke's Nick Daggett also fell in the semifinals with top-seeded Cole Laya collecting a victory by fall (1:55). Limestone's Majid Corbett just missed on a spot in the national title match at 133 pounds in a 7-3 loss to Garrett Vos of St. Cloud State.
