Wingate Wins SAC Women's Lacrosse Regular Season Title, Seeds for 2023 Women's Lacrosse Championship Announced
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate has won the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship title as they closed out the season with a perfect 10-0 record in conference play and an overall record of 15-2. With the title, the Bulldogs have earned the No. 1 seed in next week's South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship. The Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 4 in all of DII Women's Lacrosse.
Newberry earned the No. 2 seed with a near-perfect record of 9-1 in SAC action, while Limestone took home the No. 3 seed with an 8-2 conference record. UVA Wise earned the No. 4 seed after closing out the season at 6-4 in conference play. With a 6-4 record, as well, and taking the No. 5 seed is Lenoir-Rhyne. The Cavaliers won the tiebreaker with the Bears by virtue of a 16-14 head-to-head victory. Rounding out the field of six will be Lincoln Memorial at No. 6 after finishing the season with a record of 5-5 in conference.
Wingate and Newberry each earned a bye to the semifinals. The quarterfinals will be played on Tuesday, April 25 at campus sites with the semifinals and finals taking place at Sportsplex at Matthews in Matthews, N.C. on April 28 and 30. The tournament schedule is listed below:
