Limestone’s Elizabeth Muscella Named 2022 SAC Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Limestone's Elizabeth Muscella was voted the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year. This will be the first time Muscella will have received this honor.
The South Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each of the Conference's championship sports and is voted on by the SAC's Faculty Athletic Representatives Committee. She set a new school record in draw controls with 294 for her entire career and was ranked seventh nationally in draw controls for all of Division II.
Head Coach Scott Tucker had to say this about Elizabeth, "this is such a remarkable honor and we are extremely proud of what Elizabeth has done both on and off the field. She not only had an exceptional career, but she did so as a model student-athlete. Her ability to balance her time with academics, community service, lacrosse, SAAC, as well as her role as one of our captains, has allowed her to make a positive impact on not just the team, but Limestone University."
During her first year with the Saints, she played in all 20 games with 15 starts. She recorded 20 goals for 20 points and even put together 71 draw controls. Her sophomore season, even though cut short from, was full of milestones as she tallied 15 goals, 23 ground balls and 39 draw controls. She jumped into her junior season starting in all 15 games, scoring 29 goals, tallying 46 draw controls and 24 ground balls. Muscella had a phenomenal senior season scoring 64 goals for 85 points, put down 130 draw controls and was second on the team for assists with 21. She was named All-SAC First Team Attack for her outstanding contributions on the field this past season.
Muscella was deeply involved in community service and leadership opportunities both in the Limestone community and her own. Most notably she served as the Women's Lacrosse representative for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for four years and was a team captain this past year.
