The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf SAC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week, Feb. 23
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenior-Rhyne's Lauren Donovan was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Marabeth Durden from Coker was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played Feb. 16-22, the League announced today.
Donovan, a senior from Hollywood, Md., scored four goals and dished out five assists to lead the Bears to a 17-4 win over Tusculum on Feb. 22. She also caused three turnovers, picked up six ground balls and posted three draw controls in the win. The midfielder fired seven shots in the win with six shots on frame. The honor is her first Offensive Player of the Week nod this season.
Durden, a sophomore from Orlando, Fla., helped lead Coker to a 1-0 week, which included a 20-12 SAC win over Newberry College. The defender helped pace a Coker defense that allowed 12 goals, three of which came after the game was already decided. The sophomore caused three turnovers, picked up five ground balls and registered nine draw controls. The award is her first Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
Also nominated for Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week: Haley McCusker (Coker) and Abigail Paulus (Queens).
