Anderson Extends Lead After Day Two of SAC Women's Golf Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- The Anderson Trojans extended their lead after day two of the South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championships on a warm and sunny Monday at the Country Club of Salisbury. Anderson entered the day with a 13-shot lead and extended the advantage by two strokes on Monday. The Trojans shot a 291 on the day, the best team score for the second straight day. The other team to fire a 291 on the day was Lincoln Memorial who moved into sole possession for second place. However, the Railsplitters trail Anderson by 15 shots going into Tuesday's final.
Carson-Newman jumped up to third place after ending day one in fifth. The Eagles shaved nine strokes off their day one total to card a 299 as a team. Following Carson-Newman are Wingate and Catawba who are both +40. Limestone (+42) and Lenoir-Rhyne (+45) are tightly packed in sixth and seventh place respectively. Newberry is eighth at +53 while Tusculum is ninth at +73. Coker (+80), Emory & Henry (+97), Mars Hill (+133) and UVA Wise (+142) round out the rest of the field.
On the individual side, Lincoln Memorial's Dilyara Bulambayeva tied for the best round by an indvidual on the day with a 70 (-1) to lead the field after day two. Anderson's Aly Francis is one shot back in second place and the duo of Anderson's Zoey Iglesias and LMUs Rachel Mathieson are tied for third with scores of +3. LMU's Lauren Martin also shot a 70 on the day to move from 19th place to a tie for sixth.
Tomorrow's final round features double tees starting at 8:30 a.m.
