SALISBURY, N.C. (TheSAC.com) – Catawba College women's basketball won their first regional final in program history to advance to the Elite Eight as they defeated Georgia Southwestern 75-65 in the NCAA DII Southeast Region Championship game on Monday night (March 13).
Lyrik Thorne led the way for Catawba, scoring a game-high 33 points while teammate Janiya Downs added a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Catawba improves to 28-5 overall and will travel to St. Joseph's, Missouri for the NCAA Quarterfinals. Their next opponent is TBA.
