Anderson's Mollenhauer and Carson-Newman's Marosites Named to to Google Cloud 2019-20 Academic All-America© Women's Basketball Teams
AUSTIN, Texas – Anderson University women's basketball senior Alexy Mollenhauer has been named to the 2019-20 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Women's Basketball First Team, while Carson-Newman's Kayla Marosites is named to Academic All- America® Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The 2019-20 Academic All-America® Women's Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Nine of the 15 members of the 2019-20 Academic All-America® Division II Women's Basketball teams have at least a 3.90 G.P.A., with two student-athletes maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA. The five members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.96.
The 2019-20 Academic All-America® Division II Women's Basketball teams have five repeat performers – Kallie Bildner (Lindenwood University), Boensch, Tiffany Lapotsky (East Stroudsburg University), Emily Miller (Roberts Wesleyan College) and Alexy Mollenhauer (Anderson (S.C.) University) - from last year's CoSIDA Academic All-America® teams.
Senior guard Alexy Mollenhauer has a perfect 4.00 GPA in English/secondary English education (9-12). The Lindale, Texas native has helped lead the Trojans to a second straight regular season titles and SAC runner-up title. Mollenhauer was named the SAC Player of the year for the second consecutive year and was named to the SAC All-Tournament team. The Trojans are headed to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional as the No. 3 seed on the campus of Lander which will be held March 14-17.
Kayla Marosites a senior guard from Elizabethton, Tenn., becomes Carson-Newman's first ever player to be named to an All-American team. Marosites holds a 3.82 GPA in Child & Family Services and was named to this year's SAC All-Tournament team. The Eagles are headed to the NCAA DII Southeast Regional as the No. 6 seed and will take on the Trojans in the first round.
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.
