Four SAC Student-Athletes Named to D2CCA All-Southeast Region Women's Basketball Team, Mollenhauer Earns Player of the Year
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Four South Atlantic Conference student-athletes have been named to the 2019 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Southeast Region Women's Basketball Team. Anderson's Alexy Mollenhauer was tabbed as the Region Player of the Year, advancing her to the national ballot.
Mollenhauer earned Region Player of the Year honors in her continuing impressive junior campaign. The Lindale, Texas native has led the Trojans to a perfect 20-0 conference record, 27-game winning streak, SAC regular season title, SAC tournament title, and hosting rights for the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional to be held March 15-18. Mollenhauer earned SAC Player of the Year and Tournament MVP, and was this week named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II Women's Basketball First Team.
Carson-Newman's Haris Price was the other SAC recognition on the first team. The senior from Gatlinburg, Tenn. has led the Eagles to a No. 4 seed in the upcoming regionals and was a first team honoree on the All-Conference list. The three-time SAC AstroTurf Player of the Week will battle Lander in the opening round starting Friday, March 15.
Representing the SAC on the second team is Ace Easter from Anderson and Carson-Newman's Kayla Marosites.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II Southeast Region schools and conferences selected the two D2CCA All-Southeast Region teams. The process concludes with All-America selections announced later in the month.
