NCAA Releases Week Three of the Division II Women's Basketball Regional Rankings
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Four South Atlantic Conference women's basketball teams were named in the third week of the NCAA Division II southeast rankings. Anderson, Carson-Newman, and Wingate earned three of the top-4 spots, while Tusculum was dropped to ninth.
The Trojans (26-2, 20-0 SAC) are sitting at No. 6/15 in the nation after wrapping up their first unblemished conference record since joining the SAC in the 2010-11 season and the longest winning streak (24) in program history. The team enters this weekend's Pilot Flying J SAC tournament as the top-seed and has been the No. 1 in the NCAA southeast region poll all three weeks.
The Eagles (22-6, 15-5 SAC) are second in the region for the second week and will enter the conference tournament as the No. 3 seed after a tiebreaking scenario with Wingate.
The Bulldogs (20-7, 15-5 SAC) hold the No. 4 seed in the southeast and finished the regular season as the No. 2 seed going into the conference championship.
The Pioneers (16-8, 8-8 SAC) fall to the No. 9 spot in the southeast, splitting the week's contests with a win over Lincoln Memorial and an overtime loss to regionally-ranked Wingate.
