Four South Atlantic Conference Schools Ranked in NCAA Southeast Region
The South Atlantic Conference was well represented in the first NCAA Southeast Region Women’s Basketball Poll, which was released by the NCAA on Wednesday (Feb. 14).
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference was well represented in the first NCAA Southeast Region Women's Basketball Poll, which was released by the NCAA on Wednesday (Feb. 14). Carson-Newman earned the top spot in the poll, followed by Wingate at No. 2, Anderson was ranked No. 7 and Tusculum rounded out the poll at No. 10.
In addition to the four SAC schools ranked in this week's poll, there are four schools from the Peach Belt and two from Conference Carolinas.
The Eagles of Carson-Newman are currently ranked No. 3 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Poll with an overall record of 23-1.
Wingate has an overall record of 19-3 and is ranked No. 22 in the WBCA poll. Anderson enters the poll with an overall record of 16-8 and Tusculum sits at 15-5 overall.
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections.
