The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Softball Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Softball Players of the Week for games played during the fourth week of the 2024 season. Mars Hill's Leah Grimes was named the Player of the Week while Carson-Newman's Emma Frost was named the Pitcher of the Week.
Grimes, a freshman from Advance, N.C., had a hit and drove in a run in three of the four games while scoring a run in every game on the week. She hit .636 with two doubles and two homers, driving in eight runs and scoring seven times with a 1.364 slugging percentage.
Frost, a senior from Morristown, Tenn., hurled the first perfect game for the Carson-Newman softball program in a decade while C-N (6-8) tallied a pair of run-rule wins over Kentucky State (4-6) Tuesday afternoon at The Vickee Kazee-Hollifield Softball Complex. Frost struck out 13 of the 15 batters she faced and threw 63 pitches, 48 of which were strikes. Frost's perfect game is the fourth of her career. She also registered her fifth career no-hitter.
