Three SAC Teams Ranked in Latest NCAA Softball Regional Poll
INDIANAPOLIS - Lenoir-Rhyne, Catawba and Anderson have each been ranked in this week's NCAA Division II Softball Southeast Region poll, the association announced on Wednesday evening. L-R is ranked No. 3, Catawba No. 6 and Anderson No. 9.
The regional rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA Division II Softball Committee during the NCAA Championship selection process.
Lenoir-Rhyne is 46-11 overall and went 14-4 in the SAC to earn the conference's regular-season title. The Bears also won last weekend's Food Lion SAC Softball Championship.
L-R is 45-11 against in-region opponents, and was ranked No. 15 in this week's NFCA national poll.
Catawba, which finished second in the SAC regular-season standings, is 33-17 overall and went 12-5 in league play.
Anderson, meanwhile, is 38-13 overall coming off a run to the SAC Softball Championship title game last weekend. The Trojans went 12-6 in conference play and are 29-12 against Southeast Region opponents.
North Georgia is the region's top-ranked team at 45-8 overall.
The NCAA Division II Softball Championship field will be announced on a live NCAA.com selection show on Monday, April 30.
