SAC Teams Take Top Three Spots at NCAA Southeast Regional; Wingate Wins Region Title
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (TheSAC.com) - Wingate, Queens, and Catawba took the top three spots at the NCAA Men's Cross Country Southeast Region Championship on Saturday (Nov. 6). Wingate placed first, followed by Queens in second, and Catawba in third. Anderson placed fifth overall, followed by Tusculum in 11th, Lenoir-Rhyne in 13th, Carson-Newman in 18th, and Limestone in 22nd.
Individually, Jan Lukas Becker from Queens won the 10K event with a time of 30:18, followed by Wingate's Scott Nutter in third at 30:41, and Catawba's Matthew Fowler in 4th at 30:47. Spots five through twelve belonged to SAC runners: fifth Eric Keogh, Queens (31:00), Bastian Mrochen, Wingate (31:03), Yonas Sauers, Wingate (31:05), Saul Valdez, Wingate (31:15), Titquan Le Grix, Wingate (31:15), Oliver Way, Wingate (31:16), Erick Sanchez, Queens (31:19), Felix Nadeborn, Wingate (31:21).
Catawba's Erick Ramierz-Ramos rounded out the SAC runners in the top-15 with a 14th place finish and a time of 31:40.
Wingate, Queens, and Catawba all receive automatic bids to the NCAA Division II National Championship at the Abbey Course in Saint Leo, Fla. on Nov. 20. The full field of teams and individuals will be announced on Monday, Nov. 8.
