Queens Men Win 2019 NCAA DII Southeast Region with Five SAC Schools Placing in the Top-10 Overall
WINGATE, N.C. (TheSAC.com) – With five runners finishing in the Top-20, the Queens University of Charlotte Men's cross country team claimed its second-straight sweep of the NCAA DII Southeast Region Championship, Saturday morning at the Wingate XC facility.
Queens, who won their fourth-straight SAC Championship just two weeks ago outdistanced Augusta and Mount Olive for the title. Wingate, who finished third overall in the SAC Championship finished fifth overall in the Region Championship.
The Bulldogs finished with a score of 135 points. Wingate's only top-10 runner was Micah Kipchumba who placed ninth overall with a time of 31:41.3.
Queens Anthony Raftis leads the Five SAC men who placed in the Top-10 at No. 3 with a time of 31:05.7. Queens runners Seb Anthony (31:31.1), Nick Kipkemel (31:37.7) and Yannik Duppich (31:47.3) as well as Wingate's Micah Kipchumba followed.
The Top five finishers are guaranteed a spot in the NCAA National Cross Country Championships, which will be in Sacramento, California on Nov. 23rd.
