The South Atlantic Conference Announces Men's Cross Country Elite 20 Honoree
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Jorge Hernandez of Lincoln Memorial was named the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Men's Cross Country Elite 20 honoree, the League announced today. This award honors the student-athlete with the top cumulative grade-point average based on a minimum of 48 credit hours who is competing at the final site of each of the Conference's 20 team championship sports
Hernandez carries a 3.93 GPA as a business management major.
During the 2016 season, as a sophomore, Hernandez led the Railsplitters to the program's highest-ever finish in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championship meet – eighth place – while notching the highest individual performance in that event in program history with a 23rd-place run. That helped the Mount Pleasant, Texas native add All-Southeast Region accolades to his mantle after earning All-SAC second team distinctions at the league's championship race. This season, the junior has led Lincoln Memorial in two of the team's four regular-season races, highlighted by a ninth-place finish at the Fast Cats Classic in the regular-season finale.
