Wingate Women, Mars Hill Men Claim Food Lion SAC Cross Country Titles
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Wingate University's women and Mars Hill College's men claim the team titles at the 2007 South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Championships held on Saturday morning at Salisbury Community Park. The Wingate women had 51 points to top runner-up Lenoir-Rhyne, who had 80 points. The Mars Hill men totaled 29 points, while Lincoln Memorial was second with 63 points. The Lions won the men's title for the 11th consecutive year
Carson-Newman's Aubrey Morris earned SAC Women's Runner of the Year honors as she covered the 5k course in a time of 19:13.

She finished 28 seconds ahead of Keely Hollahan, of Mars Hill, who was second at 19:41.
The top seven finishers earned first team All-SAC honors, while the next seven were named second team All-SAC. Joining Morris and Hollahan on the All-Conference First Team are: Genna Eisemann, Lenoir-Rhyne; Amber Hines, Wingate; Andrea Criscio, Wingate; Miranda Annas, Lenoir-Rhyne and Maleah Cole, Catawba. The All-Conference Second Team consists of: Alicja Dembna, Tusculum; Lisa Massey, Carson-Newman; Hannah Moore, Mars Hill; Ashley Hubbard, Wingate; Tiffany Winchell, Carson-Newman; Brooke Underwood, Tusculum and Alicia Harbold, Wingate.
Crisco is the SAC Freshman of the Year following her fifth-place finish. Joining Criscio on the All-Freshman team are Annas, of Lenoir-Rhyne, Moore, of Mars Hill, Harbold, of Wingate, and Anita Casey, of Mars Hill.
Wingate head coach Dennis Johnson, who guided the Bulldogs to their first conference title, was named women's cross country Coach of the Year.

On the men's side, Wingate's Jayce Watson is the SAC Men's Runner of the Year. He ran a school-record 8k time of 20:06 to take top honors. Freshman Kit Powell, of Mars Hill, was seven seconds behind Watson to claim SAC Freshman of the Year.
Joining Watson and Powell on the All-Conference First Team were: Dustin Whitlow, Mars Hill; Winston Curry, Mars Hill; Brad Popple, Lenoir-Rhyne; Eugene Cochran, Lenoir-Rhyne; and Ted Johnson, Lincoln Memorial. The men's All-Conference Second Team consists of: Jeremy Donahue, Lincoln Memorial; Justin Baker, Mars Hill; Mark Paulson, Lincoln Memorial; Will Mikolajczak, Mars Hill; Ben Crenshaw, Mars Hill; Trey McCain, Mars Hill and Aaron Wells, Mars Hill.
Joining Powell on the All-Freshman team are teammates Baker, McCain and Wells, along with Lenoir-Rhyne's Cochran.
Mars Hill head coach Mike Owens was named Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year, winning the award for the 12th consecutive year.
