The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the sixth week of competition. Lenoir-Rhyne's Clarence McGill was named the Track Athlete of the Week while Newberry's Kegan Crowell was named the Field Athlete of the Week.
McGill, a sophomore from Corpus Christi, Texas, competed at the Aggie Invitational and the USC Outdoor Open. He recorded a new school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.90, which is the eighth-fastest time in Division II. In the men's 4x400-meter relay, he served the final leg in a group that tallied a time of 3:08.03, which is the second-fastest time in Division II.
Crowell, a graduate student from Beaufort, S.C., set a new Newberry record in winning the discus throw event at the Catamount Classic last weekend. Crowell's throw of 54.17 meters (177 feet, 9 inches) was more than 16 feet ahead of second place. Crowell is atop the SAC Outdoor Performance List for discus and is 11th in Division II.
