The South Atlantic Conference Announces Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the fourth week of competition. Wingate's Soheil Boufrizi was named the Track Athlete of the Week while Lenoir-Rhyne's Jacob Wadsworth was named the Field Athlete of the Week.
Boufrizi, a senior from Trelissac, France, ran the fastest NCAA Division II 3000 meter steeplechase time this season at Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational. Boufrizi's NCAA provisional time of 8:37.94 is a new school record effort, shaving five seconds from the previous Bulldog standard.
Wadsworth, a senior from Dansville, N.Y., participated in the Southside Power & Fitness Invitational this past week. He finished first place in the men's long jump event with a program-record 7.84 meter leap and finished second in the men's high jump event with a program-record leap of 2.02 meters.
