The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Newberry's Tyrese Grant was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Lenoir-Rhyne's Ellis Horton was named AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the seventh week of the 2021 outdoor season, the Conference office announced today.
Grant, a senior sprinter from North Charleston, S.C., placed second in the 200-meter dash at the Southside Power and Fitness Invitational last week with a time of 23.39 seconds. He was also a member of the winning 4x100-meter relay team that finished with a time of 43.76 seconds.
Horton, a sophomore thrower from Mount Pleasant, S.C., competed in the Southside Power and Fitness Invitational where he finished third in the hammer throw and placed first in the discus. His hammer toss went for 47.03 meters, while his winning discus toss went 45.01 meters.
